Cross-border network of cycle trails in Algarve, Alentejo, Andalusia and Extremadura

A project to make Europe

Responsible and environmentally-friendly tourism

The project has managed to improve the territorial connection between the regions by promoting and creating different pedestrian/cycle routes, treating the territory as a continuum, without borders, for the development of a responsible and environmentally friendly tourist activity, but similarly to facilitate sustainable local mobility.

Actions have been carried out to create a network of cycling trails, in addition to drafting a 2030 Action Plan, creating a joint management model, a tourism promotion strategy, and specific tools to foster business entrepreneurship.

Cross-border Cycle Trails Network

CICLOSEND_SUR Cross Border Cycle Trails Network has identified a network of non-motorised routes as cross-border ecotourism resources, and has proposed an action plan for their expansion and improvement. This has promoted the conservation, valorisation and socioeconomic revitalisation of the territory, involving the business community in this sustainable tourism proposal.

The recipients have been public administrations and local SMEs, the main parties involved in this joint promotion initiative of the scope of cooperation as a sustainable tourist destination. As well as tour operators and tourists from Portugal, Spain and other EU countries, who will be able to choose new destinations for cycling and hiking tourism.
